Hello everyone! Sorry for the delay, we’ve got so much coming out this month it needed a bit more time in the oven.
But now we’re ready, let’s get into it:
Build 50 and Android Built 5 – the biggest updates to Lingonaut yet!
With this update, Android is now at feature parity with iOS, bar some performance improvements.
We’ve got so many fixes and features to kickstart your learning with our new languages. A lot of these are quality of life features and I want to thank everyone using our open beta and our Patrons for reporting the bugs so that we may squash them!
These changes should bring further polish to the app and make it a viable replacement for future.
But most importantly – is this:
The bug
It’s a little bug! If you ever encounter a question which isn’t looking as it should, you can press this bug and it’ll copy the unique question id, which you can mention in your bug report. This way there’s less guesswork of what question in what lesson etc. is broken.

Overhauls to Czech, German & Finnish
After receiving the many reports of bugs, sifting through them revealed that a lot of them weren’t actually bugs at all but mistakes within the courses which ended up cascading into bug-like behaviour.
We spent a significant amount of time creating a new quality control process and multiple new tools, both within and outside of Creatonaut!
Using these new tools we have once again overhauled the courses, fixes almost all mistakes as well as reorganising them to have better question variety and consistency throughout.

Welsh, Italian and Klingon enter the ring!

With those three, our currently available language roster doubles form 3 to 6, and after going through the new QC process we used for the overhauls, mistakes should be far fewer too.
Usually we give Patrons early access of a few months for new languages but the teams working on them have been so eager to get them out in the wild we’ll be releasing Welsh and Italian for everyone starting today with Klingon following in a few days!
You can now select Welsh and Italian languages from the language selection menu on Lingonaut or Lingonaut Android with Klingon in a few days.
Credits to the wonderful Translatonauts below for each language:
Welsh: Dewilingo, RataVoloira, Eheddyd y bore, Heulwen
Italian: RataVoloira, quisquisnaut, Scu
Klingon: Stormcrow
Creatonaut 3.5!
We’ve made massive under the hood changes to make sure the bugs pre-overhaul on our first few courses don’t appear on new ones going forward. The new features should make creating courses easier than ever!
The goal is to make it as difficult as possible to ‘break’ a course and with these changes the courses should be much more reliable and as a trickledown fix many of the crashes and correct questions being reported as incorrect in both iOS and Android.
Creatonaut Studio 3.5
- Can now save reports generated upon export to your device so you can go through it and fix the errors
- Now uses multiple different tiers of error/warning/suggestion sorting so you know what’s the most important to fix.
- Duplicate questions within the same lesson are now detected automatically and highlighted as ERROR
- Consecutive questions of the same type are now considered WARNINGs
- When generating text to speech, the underscores aren’t pronounced anymore as the app drops them silently, neither are words in brackets
- When exporting a course, the app will attempt to dry run the course and will highlight questions which cannot be completed as flashing CRITICAL errors
- You can run the auditor from the Tools menu instead of having to export every time.
- Can no longer trick the app into letting through a required field by putting in a period . or space or comma ,
- New ‘Show question number’ toggle in View menu. This shows the question number next to questions
- Various bug fixes
- Added a new ‘Attempt Repair’ option to the audit menu which allows four automatic repair processes:
- Delete duplicates – deletes duplicate questions
- Redistribute – Equalises the number of questions in every lesson so you don’t have like 3 in one and 30 in the other. Order is preserved
- Reshuffle – Creatonaut makes its best attempt to move questions around within a lesson such that you don’t have the same question type back to back
- (PickWords) – Force insert gap answers. This is just for questions where creators misunderstood the syntax and didn’t put the correct answer between the underscores.
- Other additions
- PickWords now supports multiple answers!
- The audit screen has now been turned into an always-active console so you always have up to date information on what mistakes are present in your course and where they are
- You can now click on errors to take you directly to that question!
- Generate TTS tool now lets you specify what’s english and what isn’t so you don’t have audio of English words being spoken!
New Launchpad and new management!
We’ve recently appointed Jack (you might’ve seen him out and about on our discord or subreddit!) as the new team Liaison and lead of the Translatonaut project.
Along with reorganising the teams and courses to be more efficient and productive and taking a central role in managing them, he’s also been hard at work updating launchpad so you always have the latest info about what languages are being worked on and what’s next!
Along with his content updates, we’ve worked on its backend and frontend to be less of an eyesore and easier to use! You can access the new launchpad at the same url as the old.
For more information on the software side, you can always take a look at roadmap.lingonaut.app, which will be also updated and refreshed soon.
Android beta is now open For Venus & Mercury tiers!
