Lingonaut updates
The extra time we’ve had to work on Lingonaut iOS has been immensely useful to both polish things up more than they were before (but not necessarily polished! still a rough beta) as well as more time to meet Apple’s App Store guidelines.

Lingonite
Lingonite is our answer to gems! By doing your lessons, completing quests and practicing your language you can earn pieces of Lingonite that can be spent on:
- Streak freezes
- Cosmetic items for your profile
- New crewmates to appear in lessons
- Themes and icons
- Bonus skills
- Wagers
You cannot buy Lingonite with real money – we will never allow someone to buy themselves better education.
New animations and illustrations
We’ve received more animations and illustrations to replace the static images in the app, adding more polish and personability to the cast!

Creatonaut updates
To make sure that the tools for course creation are ready for the release of Lingonaut as well as for the creation of parts of courses that we need to actually finish building out Lingonaut, we’ve started working on Creatonaut and Lingonaut simultaneously. This means that there won’t be a massive delay between releases or a gap in content.
The release between Lingonaut with its Czech course and the first contributor-built courses like German, Spanish and more will only be a matter of weeks as a result!
A plethora of changes like automatic snapshots and multiplatform capability (so you can run it on Windows, Mac or Linux) mean that absolutely anyone will be able to work on and play around with Creatonaut going forward!
Lastly, the new automation tools for creating lessons based of guide content and vocabulary will help close the gap between Lingonaut and the other app.

Typhoon server
‘Typhoon’ is our custom built server software designed to connect Lingonaut for all platforms, Creatonaut for all platforms, and our web services (like the forums) together. Because we’re switching to a dedicated server instead of running Lingonaut off the same servers as the website we’ll be able to do cool new things like:
- Show your stats in the forums like star count, streak, etc
- Submit courses for addition to the community course browser or Lingonaut from within Creatonaut itself
- One account for CN, LN and the forums!
New beta schedule
JUST AS A REMINDER, when we say Beta – we mean an actual beta. The lingonaut beta is going to function as a testing ground for specific features, bugs, security vulnerabilities, streak importing and more.
This means that far from a finished product, the beta may have:
- Missing features
- Unfinished parts
- Missing animations
- Minor or Serious bugs
- Spontaneous crashes
- Rapid and often updates
- A lack of polish
- Limited content
Remember – right now we’ve just got a partial Czech course to help with debugging! Courses can only start being made once the Lingonaut beta is out so that contributors can actually test their courses.

These are the things that (should) be available at the start, with more features rolling out as they need testing,
We’re going to need all the help we can get when it comes to getting all the bugs out! When you encounter a bug please fill out the following form:
And please make sure you fill out one form per bug, if you encounter 5 bugs in a session, fill out the form 5 times, one for each bug. This will help is triage and fix each one.
Who gets in and when?
As a reminder, below is when each wave goes forward:

You may notice that the waves are more spread out at the start, this is so we can take more time to fix bugs as they appear! Better that than even more time if Lingonaut does go down.
It’s important to keep in mind this timeline is in the event that no glaring issues are found – suppose a scaling issue is found between wave 1 and 2, wave 2 will get delayed until we can figure out what’s going on and how to fix it.
I know people are eager to get started with Lingonaut but it’s better we take things slow now so things run well when opened up for everyone later rather than it all crashing down when there’s lots of people using it.
When and how are the Keys being sent out? Sending them will be down to the wire but they’ll generally be sent via discord, unless you’ve individually been told otherwise.
Revamped Patreon perks
The previous Patron perks were designed over two years ago when the scope and the number of eyes on the project were much lower. We’ve finally taken the time to update and revamp the patreon perks so that there are more clear and concrete perks to pledging to each tier. There is a net increase in perks so I think you’re all going to prefer the new ones.
We’ve also renamed the tiers to make it easier on the tongue!

Just to clarify for the ‘MAX’ parity and O.W.L buster tiers – if you already had subscribed to the ‘MAX’ parity tier before this revamp, you will still be entitled to your OC being added to the crew! Any new subscribers after this change must pledge to at least O.W.L buster tier for this perk.

Due to popular request and to clear up misconceptions as well as answer commonly asked questions and tickets, we’re moving our discord only FAQ to the website as well as updating it.
We’ll be answering questions asked in the discord as well as questions that were asked in previous AMAs and questions found in the previous FAQ.
