Lingonaut was made to bring together language learners worldwide in one community.
Our mission is to make language education freely accessible to all. These ‘bylaws’ are designed to establish a shared understanding of our community values. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in action being taken, so please read carefully.
Treat Others with Respect
We unite as a global community with diverse language levels, striving towards the same objective – learning languages. We value curiosity, inquiry, and appreciation for different cultures. Show respect for others and their perspectives.
Offer Help and Support for All Proficiency Levels
We are all on this journey together. Language learning requires dedication and bravery. If someone makes a grammatical error or asks a question with an apparent answer, respond kindly and patiently. Mocking or being rude doesn’t aid learning. If you can’t give a polite input, don’t participate.
Celebrate and Discuss Regional Language Variations
Languages often have multiple words, accents, and expressions with similar meanings. This diversity is a beautiful aspect of languages. Engage in these conversations with an open mind and positive attitude.
Consider Your Privacy before Sharing
Your safety is our priority. While language learning is inherently social, please be cautious about exchanging or posting private information that could be misused. This includes phone numbers, ages, addresses, schedules, school names, emails, or any other personal information that might jeopardize your privacy. In short, avoid over-sharing. Encouraging others to share personal data or sharing such information may lead to the removal of your post or account.
Lingonaut is Not a Place for…
Targeting individuals or groups with harmful words or actions
Lingonaut is dedicated to providing a secure environment for learners of all backgrounds. Harassment and malicious content will not be tolerated. Hate symbols, inappropriate names or text, stalking, impersonating, and making sexual remarks are deemed abusive. The same goes for explicit and upsetting profile pictures and usernames. Lingonaut reserves the right to remove or replace these images or accounts at its sole discretion, as mentioned in the terms. Simply put, if your actions are causing distress or damage, refrain from doing so. We take such reports seriously, and any verified transgressions by our team may result in your account’s deletion without prior warning.
Using Scripts or Cheating with Malicious Intent
Lingonaut upholds the values of genuine learning. If you’re using scripts to cheat or sharing information about Lingonaut in a way that negatively affects the system, community, learning, data, or user experience, your account and posts may be removed.
Posting Inflammatory Comments
Hateful, vulgar, and unrelated comments hinder learning. Swearing is also unwelcome (leave discovery of such words to real-life situations). Keep language discussions civil and educational.
